About concept B
Clearview built two concepts for the Federation of American Scientists' review of web development and maintenance proposals. This is the second.
How B differs from A
Concept A (fas-concept-cv26.npage.dev) extends fas.org as it is, as the RFP asks: the same colours, type style and layout habits, with the new components added and the issue colours brought up to accessibility standards.
Concept B asks what the pilot would look like if it were built around the people FAS writes for. It leads with what FAS recommends and the evidence behind it, puts FAS's own publication record on the front page, and reads like a publication rather than a feed.
- Type. Public Sans, the typeface of the U.S. Web Design System, for the interface; Newsreader, a serif designed for reading on screen, for headlines and long reading.
- Colour. White, a blue-black ink, FAS blue for links, and a deep green for recommendations. FAS's issue colours are kept for data only, where they don't have to carry text.
- Structure. Recommendations, topics and a reading template, with the topic list tidied first.
Either direction, or a mix, can be built in FAS's WordPress site. B is a proposal FAS would decide on in design, not a rebrand: the FAS name and blue stay.
What it isn't
- Not an FAS website, and not the production platform. The proposal builds everything in FAS's WordPress site, on FAS's existing hosting. This concept runs on Nanopage, a site platform Clearview is involved in building through our CTO, Jasmin Ihtijarevic. Nothing in the proposal depends on it.
- Nothing invented. Publication titles, dates, types, topics, excerpts and counts come from fas.org, captured in October 2026, and each links to the publication on fas.org. The introductions and the demonstration publication are ours. Feeds are shown as links, not as posts.
How we handle it
Unlisted and excluded from search engines, for FAS's evaluation only. We'll take it down whenever FAS asks.
Accessibility
Built and tested to WCAG 2.2 AA with automated checks (axe-core) on every page, with the design notes on and off, at desktop, phone and 320-pixel widths, and with text at 200%. Every text colour meets AA contrast on its background.
